For four days, our group of 5, not including lead photographer David and captain Neil McDermott, had front-row seats to one of nature's most astonishing and spectacular behaviors of the animal world. Humpback whales, hungry from their 3,000-mile food-less migration from Hawaii's warm waters, launching and lunging with a magnificent acrobatic symmetry to consume their preferred food choice, the Pacific Herring.
