À propos du livre
Not only do "Come fly with George" pages provide current (June 2022) photographs of Collingwood, author-photographer George Czerny-Holownia also provides photographs which show bird's-eye views of parts of the Town of the Blue Mountains; in particular focusing on parts of the popular Blue Mountains Resort.
Readers need not go to the expense of hiring a plane, or hope for good weather in which to fly. Bonus: George includes some historic photographs in the pages of "Come fly with George", such as views of an unique side-launching of a ship. Collingwood's main industry was once shipbuilding, but the shipyards closed in 1986.
"Come fly with George" takes readers from take-off to sightseeing over Collingwood, the Blue Mountains and parts of southern Georgian Bay before returning to land.
"For local residents, or out-of-town property owners," it gives an opportunity to see their neighbourhoods, perhaps their houses, the way the birds see them," said George.
"For people who don't know the area, it's a great way to visit it," added George who has been taking photographs, both aerials and from the ground, for thirty-nine years.

À propos du créateur
George Czerny-Holownia has been writing for more than four decades under the name George Czerny. He spent almost 30 years in the newspaper business, starting as a reporter/photographer and then taking on any challenges thrown at him in a newsroom. He moved on from being managing editor of a daily newspaper to becoming the publisher and general manager of the then-weekly newspaper, The Enterprise-Bulletin in Collingwood, Ontario, Canada. A 14-year stint at the helm of this community newspaper put him in close proximity with small-town community life and the then-busy (but now closed) Collingwood Shipyards about which he has written. Mr. Czerny married Nancy in 1968. They live in Collingwood, Ontario. George and Nancy have two sons, Stephen and Douglas, and five grandchildren to whom The Collingwood Shipyards book is dedicated. George has published four books using the Blurb system and enjoys boating in his spare time.
