The author made many visits to Rome between 1974 and 1992. On each visit he made time to wander the streets with his camera observing the street life of this timeless city. Elegantly dressed Italians strode the streets with confidence and stood out from the more casually dressed visitors. The traffic was chaotic with hordes of youngsters on motor scooters scything through the bumper to bumper queues of tiny Fiat cars. As befits such a romantic city, there were couples entwined everywhere engrossed in each other and oblivious to passers by. It was this emotion and passion that spilled so readily onto the streets that made Rome such a special place and a haven for street photographers with an empathetic eye.

Born in Wales 1944. Gained Ph.D. in biochemistry at University of Wales, Cardiff in 1968 & joined Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries & Food in London in 1972. Appointed Chief Scientist (Food) in 1992 then took early retirement in 1996 to follow a new career. Keen amateur photographer from an early age & this developed into giving lectures to Photographic Societies & judging competitions including International Salons of Photography. Took up photography professionally in 1996. Specialized in live music photographing rock, blues & jazz concerts for Retna Pictures Ltd, an international picture agency. Went digital in 2002 & used a Nikon equipment for professional work. Now retired from music photography & living in Norfolk, England & working on his vast archive of images. Now uses Leica M rangefinder camera for personal photography.
