À propos du livre
All pictures in this book are taken in various European zoos and aquariums during the last decade.
Most plants and animals species are adapted to survive in specific habitats and cannot live in other types of habitats. Except in zoos where they live in artificially constructed landscapes.
Hidden doors in walls, humid cages, and condensed windows give a mysterious impression. Animal and human presence leave strange and curious traces on water and on winding paths.
Illusionistic natural habitats, idealized and simplified to meet the demands and experiences of visitors, rather than the animals caged inside. Painted canvases, stuffed butterflies, a plastic cactus, impressive fake rocks, ... A piece of wild recreated nature as a backdrop.
A habitat as a scenery.
