Born and raised in Georgia, Oscar Senn has painted since he was seven years old. He is the author of eight books for young readers, and has worked as an illustrator for newspapers and as an Art Director and designer in the advertising world. Educated at Ringling School of Art in Sarasota, Florida, Oscar has exhibited in Florida and Los Angeles, but his work is featured in collections all over the world. ARTIST’S STATEMENT: Almost surely, the first prayer was offered deep in the earth, by firelight, before an ochre outline of a buffalo. Painters have been priests ever since. This is not overstatement. Art is one of the last sources of wonder for modern people. I offer these paintings as windows onto something indefinable – a magical act of creation that can make the corner of a home into a refuge, a place of domestic pilgrimage.
