Many abandoned one room schoolhouses can still be found in rural areas. Some still have blackboards along the walls and some are a step back in time with desks, pianos, tin ceilings and original wallpaper intact. Many schools have been renovated and turned into private homes and shops, while others have been restored as schoolhouse museums. I have sought out the abandoned ones, the ones that have sat as they were when the last students left decades ago.
