À propos du livre
Family Album is a set of zines that deal with family history and heritage, the roles we are given and the ones we take and adopt. By deconstructing and reconstructing images from my family archive I build new narratives and create an alternative family album.
I play with different roles and role models produced both by the immediate family and our culture and society at large. Parents and grandparents, fairy tale characters, cultural icons and other historical figures show up in the images.
The zines combine old family snapshots, passport photos, photo booth and mobile phone images, childhood drawings, digital drawing and text. The images are made by using different digital tools and collage technique. Texts are in English and Finnish.
