A catalog of paintings by A M Rousseau, titled Syncopations, with introduction by Peter Frank. Inspired by the iconic work of Paul Klee and Wassily Kandinsky, Rousseau’s work is a commentary and interpretation of the innovative art that laid the foundations of modernist abstract painting. These early abstractionists believed color, shape and form have the power not only to act on the soul, but to heal the body, and move the heart.

Rousseau’s series is a re-examination of these early ideas employing the rhythm of color harmonies, and the poetry of line in paintings that aim to evoke wit, elegance, and the exuberance of a musical performance.
