Sleepless - Art From the Midnight Hour was an exhibition juried by Elizabeth
Carefoot and curated by Metchosin ArtPod members Khione Gardner, Kim
Money, and Diana Smith.
The exhibition challenged artists to create works that reflected what kept them
awake at night - whether those thoughts excited or disturbed them. The pieces
displayed in the exhibition conveyed a range of emotions. The intimate
feelings often experienced during sleepless nights were captured in the works,
allowing for a deep exploration of the artists' inner landscapes. During the
opening reception, the contributing artists and their guests discussed the angst
involved in the creative process and how creativity drives the artist's hand.
Many artists highlighted the therapeutic nature of creating, noting its impact
on both the artist and the viewer.
The exhibition was on display at Metchosin ArtPod in Metchosin, BC, between
October 4 and November 10, 2024.
