À propos du livre
In 2008 I went on a journey flying from Melbourne to Seoul, then from Seoul across China, Mongolia and Siberia to Rome. The next few weeks took me through through Italy, Switzerland, Spain and France.
Parts of that journey were taken using trains, buses and planes - and the travelling was not always smooth or slow. Trying to take photographs from the window of a speeding, bouncing, swerving local bus calls for an element of luck as the bus hits pot-holes in the road, or trees flash past just as the shutter is pressed.
The photographs in this collection were originally rejected because they were too blurred. But now they have been rescued and presented as impressions of what I saw. Just as the French Impressionists did not paint exact, detailed images of what they saw, these photographs capture the essence of what was experienced during that journey in 2008.
