À propos du livre
The Golden Age of Basketball; the NBA in the Decade of the Eighties Volume II (1985-1989) continues the story of the League's most important Decade starting with the seminal 1984 Draft and the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, setting the stage for the debut of a host of future NBA stars, none shining brighter than one Michael Jordan, the Air Apparant to the Magic-Bird phenomenon of the new era; an NBA Finals Rematch in 1985 as Magic, Kareem and the Lakers try to avenge their devastating 1984 Finals loss to Larry Bird and the Celtics, the continued dominance of the Lakers and Celtics as Bird wins it all again in 1986 while Magic leads Los Angeles to consecutive Titles in 1987 and 1988, the first NBA team in 19 seasons to accomplish this feat. The Doctor, Julius Erving calls it a careen in 1987, Isiah Thomas and the Detroit Pistons crash the Championship party in 1989 while 1988 MVP Michael Jordan's early Playoff defeats set the table for a Championship run for the Ages. Kevin McHale, Robert Parish, Dennis Johnson, James Worthy, Michael Cooper, Charles Barkley, Patrick Ewing, Karl Malone, John Stockton, Akeem Olajuwon, Dominique Wilkins, Joe Dumars, Clyde Drexler, David Robinson, Chris Mullin make the last half of the decade the most ultra-competitive the NBA has ever witnessed, chronicled by the rise of Cable and Satillite Television. As the Decade came to a close the NBA would partner with this new technology at the dawning of the Internet to become a worldwide Phenomenon, laying the groundwork for the 1992 Dream Team that changed the game forever.
