13 Artists Selected by 13 Curators
Baker’s Dozen is an annual, survey-like show of 13 artist’s work who are making important strides forward in their work.
For this year’s edition TAM asked 12 Curators from other art institutions to join us and select 1 artist each, from the SoCal area, who’s practice signaled something important over the previous year - whether indicative of a dynamic shift in the artist’s work, the growth of a new trend or the maturing of an artist’s practice, the show gives a broad look at emerging art in Los Angeles today from the perspective of 13 Curators. The exhibition also reflects a sub-text pertaining to and upon the decision making processes and inclinations of curators as well as the role of the institutional hierarchy in the structure of career building.
