À propos du livre
Three years after losing the collection of images published in City Cycles, Peter Galante returns to the backstreets of urban Italy and again explores the mathematical and psychological dimensions of the ever-present, bicycle. Galante’s images express an aesthetic viewpoint derived from the repeated observation of everyday objects, characteristic in the work of Giorgio Morandi. Underlying each image, Galante consciously applies a geometric matrix patterned after the compositions of Piet Mondrian and a Bauhaus aesthetic, exemplified in the photographs of Aaron Siskind, Harry Callahan and Minor White. Galante acknowledges the impact of these influences and considers the overall portfolio to be in homage to these masters, and in particular, Giorgio Morandi
