À propos du livre
It's amazing who you may see when you encourage the winged residents and visitors in your yard to take a drink and / or a bath by placing even just a pie pan sized dish with water in it outside. Yes, it may just be one of the ‘flying rat’ pigeons, or a house sparrow who visits your water dish, but take a good look at them just the same. You will notice things like the iridescence of the pigeons feathers in places and the rainbow of colors they may have. Keep the dish clean and with fresh water in it and once the news gets around that its there and dependable you will get even more winged visitors.
All the images in this book were taken of birds who lived in or were visiting my yard in Oklahoma City, OK. Oklahoma is a bit of a crossroads when it comes to birds. For it is neither eastern or western but it may have some from either if their range is somewhat nearby. Oklahoma is also in one of the main migratory paths for birds heading for Mexico and other places further south (or heading north depending on the season). Some of the birds who only live further south may also show up in Oklahoma from time to time.
So when you look through this book do not be too surprised when you spot a bird that isn't 'supposed' to be in Oklahoma. It may be just a passing visitor to my yard on its way to somewhere else. Or, just one of our occasional visitors that decide to call Oklahoma their home.
Enjoy!
