À propos du livre
Opened in January of 1985 in Milwaukee's downtown, the "all ages" venue Yano's was a response to the raising of the legal drinking age in Wisconsin. For $3 kids got to listen to their favorite bands while snacking on Pepsi, hot dogs and chips. For several months thereafter, Yano's was the center of the punk rock scene in Milwaukee. National acts such as Dr. Know, The Dead Milkmen, Die Kreuzen and Chicago's Naked Raygun, among others, headlined with local groups opening. Unfortunately, uncomfortable with youth having fun, it was just a matter of time before the local establishment literally stepped in and closed the club. Through rare photos, original show flyers and recollections from the musicians and patrons who frequented the club, "Kids, Soda & Punk Rock" chronicles the four brief yet exciting months that Yano's existed.
