À propos du livre
This book is a stunning collection of hand tinted postcards from the author's archives.
The majority of the postcards were published in France and Belgium in the 1920s and 1930s. They represent the high graphic art of continental publishing in this period. The text, by art and media historian Paul Lewis, illustrates the influences of both surrealism and Parisian chic. He speculates on the appeal of these cards to both a gay audience, and to an audience exploring social and sexual identities. The book is a companion volume to the author's 'Painted Ladies' published in 2006.
