À propos du livre
Los Angeles is the land of the self-obsessed and superficial. This is the common and not (completely) untrue, stereotype of LA. With consistently good weather and a wide variety of landscapes, culture and people, the unique and sprawling metropolis has a lot to offer. As the result of its distinct and conceited character, self-referentiality is common. The phrase, “that’s so LA,” is ubiquitous. But what is LA? Is it the city, the suburb, the freeway, the beach, the people, The Industry? Everyone has a different conception of the city and its network of microneighborhoods and vast geography. Whether they’re exploiting the novelties or embracing the mundane, the artists included in this group exhibition have a variety of interpretations of the physical and psychological space of LA.
