À propos du livre
¨Lo que se lleva en la sangre¨ it’s a documentary about a bull riding , with a 200 year tradition in Guanacaste, Costa Rica. The men in the north practice this ¨sport¨ in every town, trying to prove that this is only a sport for the chosen few having the courage to ride the bull. Man against beast, 100 pounds against 1200 pounds, trying to control the animal with just the strength of their legs and body balance.
The reward for a Bull ride is a mere 40 dollars and occasionally they don’t get paid at all and do it for free.
It’s a dangerous way to live and injuries happen all the time. Occasionally bull riders die on the back of the bull. Even with this danger, the Guanacaste people love this tradition and come to the plaza to see these warriors as they try for fame or just to make a name for themselves in the world of bull riding.
