In this third volume of the Transcon series, we follow the BNSF Transcon from Summit, the Cajon Pass's upper most point, across the High Desert, through Barstow and Amboy to Needles and the Colorado River crossing at Topoc. The desert, mountains and water ways present outstanding backdrops to the trains travelling back and forth between Los Angeles and Chicago. Hop aboard this journey through some of California's most picturesque landscapes and some of BNSF's hottest sections of rail traffic.
