À propos du livre
This book is a catalog of all of the items in The Bureau of Suspended Objects as they were displayed in a custom-built cabinet of curiosities at the Contemporary Jewish Museum in San Francisco in 2016. The installation had three sections: new things bought from (and later returned to) places like Walmart and Target, things currently belonging to me or my parents, and things I salvaged while an artist in residence at the San Francisco dump. I collaborated with Philip Buscemi (of Ken Fulk, an interior designer and event planner for the Silicon Valley elite) to create a display that would flatten context among the three groupings, bringing to the forefront the ways in which we invest meaning in (as well as divest it from) everyday objects. The book is divided into three sections, corresponding with the sections of the installation, and contains all of my research into the manufacturing and corporate histories of each object.
