À propos du livre
Our sensory organs respond to stimulus created from both organic and artificial life.
Static is a serial repetition of electronic mistakes, the result of a wasteful consumerist global society. Digital noise and image are the end product of cultural life. These are not highly prized commodities but a collected gathering of waste, moving down the entertainment and information chute.
Static is the carbon footprint of the digital world, lost in an ether of transcendental binary code to which it is not bound.
My position as an contemporary artist is motivated by my drive to present an auditory/visual experience that can disrupt the balance between the actual and the virtual by placing the listener/viewer in a position of uncertainty.
These creations are the struggle between a desire to lose one's boundaries and fearfulness of this loss, the promise of fulfilment and threat of dissolution, whilst questioning; ‘is this the artist's romance of a return to origins, as well as the drama of degrading reproduction?’
