Esther gives an account of her Scandinavian ancestors, her homesteading family, and growing up on the Canadian prairies in Saskatchewan. She goes on to give an overview of her life since those years to the present. An extensive appendix includes extra stories from her early years as well as later stories written for her children and grandchildren. There is also a collection of short articles written by her late husband, Rev. Eric Josephson. About half of the book focuses on her immediate family (husband, children and grandchildren.)
