À propos du livre
This book is about the first twenty years of my life, until I left the farm I grew up on in Michigan to begin my life as a teacher and a traveler. In the book I tell about what it was like to grow up on a farm starting at the end of the depression and how the world changed around me. It describes the farm, starting with the house and the "Whiz Bang" and gradually expands as the world around me became wider and wider. It describes my family history, as well as a number of humorous episodes that happened to me, like how I learned 19th Century swearing from my father and how I learned the 20 Century style of swearing at school. It includes the disastrous episode of taking a pig to school in the 3rd grade, how I got caught stealing eggs (a messy business), how I managed not to learn to play the piano, Corky, the horse that wouldn't, my fabulous football career and my first trip to Europe in 1955. It concludes with my job in a pickle factory where I learned to hate pickles and whiskey. This may be best described as a humorous memoir
