Members of three Ryan families from Tipperary, Ireland, migrated to Australia. Twelve out of 18 were among the first white settlers in Dookie, northern Victoria - a place known for Ryans, rabbits and rocks. In time some of their children married into other Ryan families from Tipperary. They left behind family and a country torn from famine. The book tells the story of the Ryans of Dookie.
