À propos du livre
Travel to Cuba has changed since Obama left office. Trump has made it much more difficult for Americans to travel to Havana but it can still be done. The agency we used last trip no longer has a license and they referred us to another company that does (one of two and they have been doing this for 18 years).
So, we went back to the city we thought we would never see again… which irked us because on the plane ride home last May, we looked at our list of things we wanted to do and saw that some of the highest on the list just didn’t make the tour.
The top of the list is the famous wire image of Che in Revolution Square which is quite reminiscent of the Evita one in Buenos Aires…so it is on our cover this time!
The main problem with tours it the rigid schedule. We had a “tour” of two this time. Since tours are still the only legal way to go, we enjoyed the benefit of our personal guide, Arturo, and driver, Alfred – both were GREAT and added a lot to the experience.
We spent half the time in an Air BnB apartment, then moved to one of the top Havana hotels, the Parque Central, so we really had two trips in one. We were right downtown and walked all over the city – both day and night – which is a terrific thing.
Tom liked Cuba more this time…Marianne liked it so much she hopes to return.
