À propos du livre
After a long and brutal civil war and in the aftermath of a devastating natural disaster, the people of Sri Lanka picked up their lives and moved forward for their children, their future. I traveled to Sri Lanka to explore its cities and walk the neighborhoods with the goal of immersing myself in the everyday and photographing how life is now being lived. With a limited schedule and no language skills there is insufficient time to learn each and every story. However, there is time to freeze a moment or capture a gesture in an image that hopefully reveals a piece of the individual's storyline; or, alternatively, creates one from the perspective of the viewer. For this project, I worked to make pictures of unguarded moments of everyday life in the cities of Sri Lanka as I walked their narrow lanes and alleys.
