À propos du livre
Imagine spending your life traveling and documenting the world. Blaine Harrington has done that for over forty years. Not only traveling to places that belong on anyone’s bucket list but being lucky enough to have truly unbelievable experiences while taking award winning photos. This 88 day trip circumnavigating the globe began in Venice, Italy. Carnevale was the reason to be there in February. A few weeks later, in India, at a much wilder festival, Harrington had to stay upright as he was pulled to and fro by massive crowds and to protect himself and his camera gear from the fine colored powders being thrown in all directions at Holi, the festival of colors. Next came Sri Lanka, sometimes called “India lite” because while it is not significantly different from India, life happens at a less frantic pace. Cambodia brought the opportunity to see the tragic remnants of the Killing Fields in Cambodia and to tour Angkor Wat, one of the few famous world landmarks that he had not been to before. Traveling the length of Vietnam followed, experiencing everything from the four million motorbikes in the vibrant Ho Chi Minh City to the complete calm of cruising amongst the karst rock landscape of Halong Bay. Last stop would be China, to travel through Yunnan Province in the south and finally to travel the length of the Silk Road, from Xi’an, home to the Terracotta Warriors to the Karakoram Highway in Xinjiang Province just miles from the Pakistan.
