À propos du livre
That is me.
My name is Jordan.
I am not an astrophysicist, I just happen to wear silly goggles for college photo ops.
Currently, I am one week away from marrying the love of my life.
Her name is Tina.
Noticing that she is deserving of an amazing gift I decided to make her something very unique.
Undeniably, uniqueness has marked our relationship from the beginning.
We both are middle children. We lived in different cities for the first 2 years of our relationship.
She likes beef, the color red, and reading fiction. I enjoy chicken, the color blue, and autobiographies.
She is from the most beautiful state in the U.S., and I am from the biggest.
She can pay attention, I get distracted easily.
She is soft spoken, I am outspoken.
With these differences one can imagine the dynamic nature of this relationship.
Back to explaining this book (I told you I get distracted).
When I thought of what truly delights Tina's heart I kept coming back to her love for reading.
So, I have chosen to compile the first year of our written relationship in this book.
As mentioned, Tina was in her first year of medical school at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston when I first met her. As for me, I was a sophomore studying Medical Humanities 197 miles away at Baylor University in Waco, TX. Our distance created a dependence to email. This was beautiful for me, for once I could think before I spoke.
It all began at 9:16am on Sunday, January 28th, 2007. This was the first email I received from Tina. I have received around 500 since then. I always knew I kept them filed away for a special reason.
Though this book is primarily meant for Tina, my Sunshine, anyone who turns the pages will quickly understand two points:
First, how writing has played a vital part in the journey of getting to know each other.
Second, how writing has also helped us sustain the love we felt when we first began pursuing each other.
Enjoy.
