All the pictures in this book were taken by Lake Biwa, the biggest lake in Japan whose surface aerea is 670 square kilometers, located in Shiga prefecture next to Kyoto city, Japan's old capital. The lake emerged some millions years ago and it is said to be one of the three oldest lakes in the world.
They are all in black and white by films. This series had some exhibitions in Tokyo, Kyoto, Shiga, Seoul and Beijing and they were shown in magazines in China, Korea and USA.

Shinya Ichikawa
Kyoto, Japan
Shinya Ichikawa was born in Kyoto, Japan in 1959. He has been taking photographs since his childhood and he was a member of photography club at the university. He was an assistant of Center for Expression Study of University of Paris 5th, France,from 1997 to 1999 and he began his carrier as an artist since then. He had 12 solo exhibitions in ten years in France, Korea, China and Japan and his works were nominated, juried and awarded in some international competitions. Now he is a director of Kyoto Photography Club.
