Sandi and I spent five weeks in Scotland from late June through the end of July, 2018. Although it was unseasonably warm and dry there it was still much cooler than Texas summers. We had five bases from which we sampled the local attractions, culture, food, landscapes, and wildlife. We started with a week in Glasgow, followed by a week each in Edinburgh, Northumbria/Northumberland, Inverness, and the Aigas Field Center.

Each location had wonderful highlights but let's start with the Farne Islands off the east coast of Northumbria/Northumberland, which are know for their profusion of nesting seabirds, particularly Atlantic Puffin, Common Murre, Razorbill, and Arctic Tern. We were very fortunate to be able to land on both Inner Farne and Staples islands twice to watch and photograph the incredible beauty and behaviors of the birds there.
