À propos du livre
From 1893 to the 1930’s American automobiles were designed by mechanics and engineers instead of designers. All that changed with 1933 Chicago World's Fair with the introduction of the “Streamline Moderne” design. The new designs highlighted smooth curves and long horizontal lines of ocean liners, giving the impression of energy, and speed. As automobiles became popular and competition tough - manufactures needed great-looking cars to entice buyers, and car design was born. Designers like Harley Earl, Virgil Exner and Bill Mitchell led the way to the “Golden Era of the American Car” with new designs, characterized by aircraft-inspired tailfins and dashboards, chrome trims, grilles, hood rockets, front bumper bullets, space age hood ornaments, instrumentation, stylish taillights and headlights. This book images were inspired by the chrome, metal, color and the beautiful stylish silhouette of the American classic car!
