Ken Hirst is an amateur writer having produced several private books. He is also a family historian and avid reader and researcher of early colonial Australia, particularly Van Diemen’s Land and Port Phillip.
Frivolous Behaviour is the life story of his journey as a musician and 1001 Arabian Days details his adventures during the 3 years he worked in Saudi Arabia.
Has also produced a 300-page report as Environmental Consultant to the Al Hasa Municipality as well as a pictorial book of Al Asfar Lake, Saudi Arabia.
As family historian he compiled a History of the Haughtons, his maternal family. Ken and Linda celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 2022 and Ken produced a pictorial history of their life together over that time.
He and Linda have traveled extensively, and several travel books and DVDs have been produced by Ken as a result.
Convict 1509 is believed to be one of a just a few stories of early colonial life as told from the perspective of a convict.
