Jennie Castle was born in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe (formerly Rhodesia), spent her formative years in Zimbabwe, then moved on to study in South Africa - a year of Bachelor of Fine Art at the University of Cape Town and then several years of Bachelor and Master of Architecture at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal, Durban.

The artist now works from her studio an Speir Design Studios, in rural Ireland.
