À propos
Germany-based artist Thomas Zika is working with photography. He is interested in the blind spots that are embedded in all our senses and tries to create oscillation figures to reflect upon the mechanisms of our perception. His artistic research, his books and projects are based on conceptual and experimental strategies of finding and developping specific photographic approaches.
Thomas Zika: for me the term placebo has always been an excellent metaphor for human’s relationship to images as well as for the relation of images to the real world.
Our visual perception is organised around an invisible center – the blind spot. It is this blind spot that I am interested in: epistemologically, visually, intellectually, and spiritually.
Often the starting point for me is a personal biographical question which gets me running as an artist. I try to create symbolic balances of "Eros and Thanatos".
